History

The South African 4x4 & Outdoor Show was the brainchild of Alan Cawood of A.C. Local & International Marketing,  a well-known name in the South African Exhibitions Industry. Alan Cawood has hosted various high profile events including the Gauteng Motor Show which was supported by TopCar as well as Nedbank over the years until the event was sold. Recently Trio Events, owned by Marius Opperman obtained the rights for Africa of the SA 4x4 & Outdoor Show. Trio Events has been in the events industry for 10 years and is well known for owning and hosting the kykNET Buite Ekspo Western Cape at Môreson Farm, Malmesbury, the kykNET Buite Ekspo Limpopo at Sondela Nature Reserve & Spa, Bela Bela and the Hankook Land Cruiser Festival and Africa Record at Sondela Nature Reserve & Spa.

The First South African 4x4 & Outdoor Show was held at the Voortrekker Monument in 2014 and stayed at the Monument in 2015 for a second year. The 2016 and subsequent events took place at Zwartkops Raceway.  The overwhelming support that the show received during its first two years justified a bigger venue which opened the door for a wide range of exciting opportunities for the event, which would benefit both spectators and exhibitors.

The new venue allowed expansion of the show in many ways, including:

  • The Main Circuit (The Actual Track) where we have big things planned.
  • Skidpan
  • SUV & 4x4 Test Drive track
  • The Zwartkops 4x4 Track which is utilized for some exciting 4x4 spectator experiences
  • Airspace - the South African 4x4 & Outdoor Show took to the sky
  • 2 Computicket access points
  • Ample visitors parking within easy access to the venue

The Safe environment with extra space at the Zwartkops Raceway venue is also on more level terrain and stand layout planned is very accessible (user friendly) for both exhibitors and spectators.

Trio Events delivers huge events and has great plans for the future of the South African 4x4 & Outdoor Show. We will strive to continue delivering spectacular, world class events.
